Dog Boarding Cost in Orange County (2026)
6 min read · Updated July 2026

How much does boarding a dog in Orange County actually cost? We checked three OC facilities' own published pricing pages in July 2026 rather than relying on marketplace-average estimates, and the standard nightly rate for a small dog ran $57 to $85, before any suite upgrade, holiday surcharge, or add-on. Here's where those numbers come from, and what a realistic stay adds up to.
Three OC facilities, checked directly
Rather than quoting a marketplace-wide average (which blends individual sitters and full facilities at very different price points), we looked at three real Orange County boarding businesses' own rate pages:
| Facility | Location | Standard nightly rate |
|---|---|---|
| Dogtopia Santa Ana South Coast | Santa Ana | $57 |
| Camp Bow Wow Anaheim | Anaheim | $73 |
| Dogtopia Anaheim Hills | Anaheim Hills | $85 |
That's a real range, not a single tidy number, and it's wider than what our Los Angeles boarding-cost page found when it checked three LA-area facilities the same way (a tighter $68.50–$75 cluster). The two ranges overlap comfortably in the middle, which is a reasonable sanity check: OC and LA nightly rates for a small dog's standard stay land in the same general neighborhood.
Every facility above also sells a suite or luxury upgrade tier running well above these figures ($67–$189/night depending on the business), plus a holiday-period surcharge; the numbers here are the base, standard-tier rate, not the upsell.
What two weeks actually costs
Using the low and high end of the range we found:
- 14 nights at $57/night: $798
- 14 nights at $73/night: $1,022
- 14 nights at $85/night: $1,190
So a realistic two-week Orange County boarding stay for one small dog runs somewhere around $800 to $1,200, before any suite upgrade or holiday surcharge pushes it higher. None of that is a knock on any of these businesses; running a boarding facility (staffing, cleaning, supervising groups of dogs safely) is real, ongoing work, and it's fair that it costs something.
Why a French Bulldog specifically adds friction to this math
None of the three facilities above charge a Frenchie-specific rate; the friction is more about fit than price. A companion breed built to be close to its person, with breathing and heat sensitivities that a general facility's staff may or may not have direct experience with (see the BOAS and heat plan guides), tends to do better with an owner who already knows the breed's specifics than with a rotating shift of staff learning them for the first time. That's not a criticism of any facility; it's just a different kind of familiarity than a swap circle is built around.
The swap alternative
FrenchieSwap doesn't charge a fee for swap nights and there's no payment between members, ever; a two-week trip costs the nights you've hosted, not a bill. Members trade hosting, night for night, tracked in credits rather than dollars. Every match starts with an in-person meet-and-greet, every application is personally reviewed before someone joins, and hosts receive a Frenchie Card with the visiting dog's routine and any care notes before the stay begins. That doesn't mean a swap is a substitute for a licensed facility in every situation (some dogs and some schedules genuinely call for one), but for a French Bulldog owner who travels occasionally, it replaces a real, recurring cost with reciprocity instead.
FAQ
Are these exact prices what I'd pay today?
Treat them as a snapshot from July 2026, not a live quote. Boarding rates change with season, demand, and each facility's own pricing decisions; confirm directly with any business before booking.
Why didn't you use an average from a booking site instead?
Marketplace averages blend very different kinds of listings (professional facilities, individual sitters, drop-in visits) into one number that doesn't describe any specific business's actual rate. Checking real facilities' own pricing pages, the same way our LA page does, gives a more honest comparison.
Does boarding cost more for a French Bulldog than for other small dogs?
Not based on the rate pages we checked; none price by breed. The added cost some Frenchie owners report usually comes from optional upgrades (a quieter suite, extra monitoring) chosen out of caution, not a base-rate surcharge.
